Results for the races for the weekend. I couldn’t make it so just have the results this week!
Four boats today, and a cold front moving in meant increasing / gusty conditions. I decided today shortly after the first race started to attempt to fly my asymmetrical spinnaker for the first time ever which went as well as you can imagine. I did get it deployed, and doused without breaking anything at least 🙂
I continue to try to figure out the new boat holding up the rear of the group 🙂
A whirlwind in the forecast leading up to the race, but unfortunately not much of that wind made it to Sunday’s start. Four BLSA boats started between 4-5 buy at Hanna Creek no wake, and raced to the first Kent’s Buoy and back. “Wind” had most on a broad reach all the way to the rounding point, then close hauled on the way back. Not a lot of wind and not a lot of tacking.
On the bright side, it was overcast and much cooler than forecast during the race.
Four boats out there today, in good wind. I did not make it so I don’t have any commentary :). Below are the race details.
Small group of sailors/boats today produced the following results ending off the spring racing season. See everyone this fall!
Good morning,
This last weekend’s races just had 3 boats, Isabel, Eclipse, and a new old entry (Allegro). I purchased Allegro, Shawns Beneteau First 265 last weekend therefore the boat and handicap change!
Today’s wind was decent, but also variable through the buoy to buoy (Hanna to bridge) race. I picked the wrong side of the lake to return on and fell behind quite a bit, but the handicap helped me claw back a spot 🙂
Today was quite gusty and plenty of wind out of the north west. Without a committee boat we did a ‘no wake’ buoy to ‘no wake’ buoy race from the entrance of the northern ‘no wake’ (between buoy 3-4) to the bridge buoys and back. One of use was seriously outmatched on the down wind sail to the bride watching the other two boats and their spinnakers cruise away (I was the one outmatched :). )
We finally got our racing season started with 3, 2 buoy races. There were 4 boats today and the wind was between 0 and 15 knots and in every direction. So, a typical day at Brookville 🙂
The results are posted below.
BLSA welcomed the Flying Dutchman this weekend for a two day event including a social at Hanna Creek Saturday after the races. The weekend provided decent wind and a good time at the cookout after on Saturday. Below are the results for the races which are not part of the official BLSA results but are still races!
Today we had some pretty interesting wind. Forecast was for a solid 7kts with 16kt gusts, however we started at 1pm to maybe 5kts with varying winds most of the way down to the bridge.
Rounding the causeway buoy to port proved quite the challenge with the south easterly winds. Once around wind mostly provided a broad reach to the finish.
